A Review of our National Teams Accomplishments in 2018!

12Gold : Not only did Coach Darci and 12 Gold WIN the Region Championship, Cactus Classic AND Festival Fiesta, but also took 5th at AAU Festival National Championships!

12N: Coach Alison led her outstanding Pineapples to 6th in the Region, 10th at Cactus Classic and 7th in Festival Fiesta! No other 12's 2nd team in AZ accomplished as much!

13Gold: for the first time in AZ Sky history, 13 Gold played in OPEN, and under the leadership of Coach Evan Sedillo WON the 14U Championship Div at Regionals, took 3rd in OPEN at Colorado, 2nd at  SoCal, AND became the 13th BEST TEAM IN THE NATION at 13 's...out of 2,933 teams!

13N: Coach Mia Mazon took her 13 2's team to an amazing season...CHAMPIONS in 13 Club at the Cactus Classic, 8th at Regionals (highest of any 13's 2nd team in the Region), 2nd in 13 Club at Festival Fiesta, 5th at SoCal, AND 10th At USAV Nationals in American Division (ANOTHER highest finish for any 2's team from AZ at Nationals!)

14Gold: Coach Brittney Spackman never held back all season, and it paid off: CHAMPIONS of Festival Fiesta, 6th in OPEN at AZ Regionals, 7th at SoCal in USA, and took 9th at USAV Nationals after losing ALL THREE setters (one to a broken ankle in the 2nd match of the tourney!)- for a team to step up in this way, under this kind of stress, with a setter who played out of her mind after only 3 weeks of training, is simply outstanding!

14N: This team went through three coaching changes under unusual circumstances, yet never lost their fire and drive to succeed. Accomplishing 4th at Regionals in 14U Championships Div, 5th at Festival Fiesta, and earned a bid to USAV Nationals with Coaches Carly Price and Heather Tackas!!

14U: Coaches Carly and Heather ALSO showed great success with 14U! Taking 13th in Championship at Regionals, 3rd at Cactus Classic, 11th in 14 Club at Festival Fiesta, and 9th at AZ NQ!

15Gold: Fighting every step of the way, Coach Jen Lenhart lead her team to 6th in OPEN at AZ Regionals, 5th in 16 OPEN at Festival Fiesta, 8th at the exclusive Triple Crown in 15 OPEN, 4th at AZ NQ (earning a USAV bid) and took 17th in National Div at USAV Nationals!

15N: Filled with high-level players showing huge potential, 15U battled hard all season and placed 5th in Festival Fiesta and 13th at AZ NQ!

15N Festival: This postseason team went to Festival and placed 23rd, but that's not their story...going 8-3 is THEIR story, including going UNDEFEATED on Day ONE AND Day THREE!

15U: 3's teams often get overlooked, but THIS one showed their mettle all season long. Battling in Div 2 of Championship, they placed 8th in the Region and 13th at AZ NQ!

16G: What an amazing postseason for this hard fighting team! Under Coach Gladis Enriqyez...CHAMPIONS in 16's at Festival! During the regular season, they took 5th at Festival Fiesta and 9th in USA at SoCal , 33rd in USA at Colorado, and 10th at AZNQ

16A: AZ Sky's Avondale 16's never backed down to ANY opponent all season long, placing 11th in Open at Regionals, 3rd at FEstival Fiesta, 8th at AZNQ and 9th at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier (won first 5 matches in a row and ended up in the Gold Division!)

16N: Coach Megan Domingo worked these ladies hard all season, and while being undersized as a 16's team, they played with huge hearts throughout the season, placing 16th in Championship at Regionals!

17G: Under storied Head Coach Chris Lishko, 17G took 20th in 17 Open at the coveted Triple Crown, 5th at AZNQ In OPEN, 4th in OPEN in the Region, and while garnering a USAV bid they chose to play OPEN at AAU Nationals in Orlando, being seen by over 600 college coaches and having a player offered a FULL RIDE at their very court! Not to mention the MANY college offers to these plyers throughout the season, with several committing to high-level programs across the country!

18G: Under guidance from veteran coach Kris Naber, 18G took 4th in OPEN at Regionals, earned a USAV bid at AZNQ, and had every senior sign to colleges, with their Juniors all receiving offers as well!

18N: Head Coach Vicki Turrell molded this team filled with different ages into a team to be respected and reckoned with, placing 10th at Festival! (including an amazing comeback when down 14-6 in the third set of a deciding match, winning it 16-14!!)
